The OnePlus Company has given out the news about the OxygenOS 16 as its new Android skin, that is based on Android 16 and it has promised a combination of the design update, the customisation options, and the AI-driven features. All these changes will be gradually rolled out in November to various devices such as the OnePlus 13, which was just launched.

The update comes with two new design themes: Breathe With You and Thrive with Free Expression. The first one is all about “see and tell” whereas the second one is all about “user speak”. Users will be seeing here and there on the home screen, app drawer, lock screen, quick settings panel, and the new iOS 26 translucent blur effect.

The OxygenOS 16 will be sent out in gradual batches. At first, the update will come to a few devices including the OnePlus 13 in November and the rest of the eligible models will get the update in the following months. OnePlus has already told that the staged rollout may cause the update to be available for some devices later than for others.

The Quick Settings panel is now completely customizable. Users can change the order of the tiles, unfold them for more options, and get to know the settings from the top of the panel. Home screen improvements are able to be made, for example, layout can be rearranged in a 5×7 grid, the sizes of widgets can be changed, and app folders can be enlarged. The app drawer is now equipped with a new Categories tab that classifies the apps automatically, and the whole system icon theming is completely supported.

The lock screen had the Flux Themes 2.0 applied, and users are given the right to decide where should the clock be placed, how big or how small should the elements be, whether to use live photos or videos as wallpaper, and to place mini widgets. AI and Productivity Tools

With the coming of OxygenOS 16, the Private Computing Cloud is one of the features aimed at user security and privacy. The AI Writer tool, on the other hand, comes with a wide range of functionalities like-improvement of the text, generation of the content, mind maps, and many more.

Along with the new app, the Recorder can transcribe audio in real-time, summarize the content, reduce noise, and create a link to the shared one. The built-in Camera app now turns the scanned documents and presentations into PDFs. The AI-based search tool performs natural language queries over the device, and all the AI features are placed under the OnePlus AI section for quick access.

Mind Space, OnePlus' note-taking, and content management tool has now been updated with Google Gemini integration. The users will be able to ask questions regarding their stored content, get information, and even make the data they saved interactively accessible. This feature is expected to be available in the next stable updates.

OxygenOS 16 applies a Gaussian blur effect on the home screen search bar, app drawer, recents screen, and Photos app, which gives the interface a “Liquid Glass” effect similar to iOS 26.
